Revelation Through a Devotional 3

This morning I did not want to get up, at all. My husband and I had another late night. With all the church functions and his overtime, the ebay buisness eats into “our time”. Well I did get up, the Boys Club had to go to the second day of the FCM Men’s Conference, and I had the baby shower.

I did my devotionals, realizing that I was in a really negative mood. I did not want to enter into this day. I wanted to sleep in and have quality time with my husband. I’ve wanted quality time, on my terms, for years now. However, I’ve wanted this for so long that my terms are now very blurry, I no longer know what quality time is. This makes me angry and petulent.

Nevertheless, my devotionals were enlightening…March 1st; John 21:17 ( I have to deceipher roman numerals with this 1939 version)
Jesus said “Whoesoever shall confess Me before men.” ie, confess his love not merely by his words, but by everything he does.
Chambers says:
Unless we get hurt right out of every deception about ourselves, the Word of God is not having its way with us.
Amazing! The peeling of the layers of the onion creates tears of pain. In my words; when we let God remove the layers of filth from us, when we submit to this, we cry tears of pain.
Let me clarify, God does not cause the pain. He reveals the pain we have buried deep, within the layers of our lives, this pain, these sufferings cause us pain and we cry, we suffer. Not by God’s hand,  rather by the hand of the situation being revealed. Thankfully what God reveals, He removes!
Chambers goes on to say:
The Word of the Lord pierces even to the dividing asunder of  soul and spirit, there is no deception left.  There never can be any mistake about the hurt of the Lord’s Word when it come to His child; but the point of the hurt is the great point of revelation.
The Word of the Lord will reveal the difference between what is flesh and what is in the spirit. It will reveal to us what it is we need to do away with within ourselves. The soul (our mind) tells what is best according to our desires. Its what we want it to be, according to our requirements. The spirit (our spirit man; the holy spirit) tells us what is right, showing us in ways that can be confirmed in His Word.
We may not like what it is that the Word reveals to us sometimes. It may condemn or actually hurt. Just know that if God is showing you something in you or your life, that is uncomfortable, or even painful,He is working to change it. In obedience we must allow God to do His work.
1 Thessalonians 1:4-10
4For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
When all of the layers of the onion are peeled away, we reach the sweetest center, all bitterness and sting removed. The sweet center can then be enjoyed and savored without pain and discomfort.
Be Blessed

Welcome, I'm Andrea ... HOPEannFAITH ... I write and take pictures as a way of expression. These are gifts given by a loving and indulgent Father, to a headstrong and stubborn daughter, with much to say. A semi-retired social worker/secretary, I now call myself a writer. I've published one internet article and written many blog posts. However, publishing does not make one a writer, anymore than taking a box camera to the park makes one a photographer. What makes one who and what they are? Well God for one ... formed me before the foundations of this world (Psalm 139); and many, many years after putting away my passion for wordsmithing and picture taking He gave it back ... in droves. I am a culmination of my choices and experiences. It is here that my experiences color the world in print and color. It is my goal to reach just one soul a day with love ... encouragement ... understanding or just letting that soul know that they are not alone where they are today. This is about creating ~ all of it. Creating a HOLY and SACRED place where the ugly truth can be healed and the beauty of a moment or a tear can brighten a day for the experience. Why HOPEannFAITH? Hopeannfaith is my inner child, and she is maturing, as she should have done all along. She is learning all about how Faith fulfills Hope. She is learning how to live. HOPEannFAITH ~ the wonder twins all wrapped up in one, me. These are my Journey Journals ~ written and visual. I welcome your company. I welcome your friendships. My Journey is in the light ~ although I have and will share the shadowy corners and the dark ~ so you know that you are never alone there. If we hold hands in the dark, and we walk, side by side, through the shadow, we will reach the Light together. In relationship with one another and with the Light. Blessings.
