So my sister and brother in-law are ending their 18 year marriage! You’ve read about my lil’sis in the 2am call. Well I go onto the infamous myspace and see that my 17 year old niece put out a rant bulletin telling everyone to lay off about “everything ‘going’ to be okay.” This is one smart cookie, glad I helped name her! She wants to be left alone to mourn! How many barely adults know that divorce is something to mourn. Hey! how many adults know its a mourning, not a mash pit of distruction? So I called her, and blessings abound she trusted me enough to tell me what was up with her.
Her being so mature about this broke my heart and welled up my awe of her strength. She is quite the young woman. I offered my support, as a veteran and fellow child of divorce. Reassured her that she was normal and not at any fault, no matter what her head and heart told her. I hope she believed me, and was not just telling me what I wanted to hear.
She is worried about her younger sisters reactions and behaviors. She is worried about her Mom and her Dad. She is not sure where to go for assistance, she’s decided to see a counselor. I offered, again, my assistance, my heart and my ear. I send up my petition and prayer to the Father, in all thanksgiving, knowing in faith, that He has already prepared and sent the answer and healing…
I pray: Father God I thank You that You have these two young women in your hand. I thank You that you will reveal Yourself to them in a profound and life changing way. I thank You that they will be ready to recieve Your Son as their Lord and Savior. Father in heaven, I ask that they recieve the Your peace, a peace beyond understanding. That in this storm these young ladies will rise above the maelstrom and conquer the fears and pain of divorce. I humbly ask and thank You for Your protective hand in the lives of my family members. That this time of upheaval will be handled kindly and with wisdom. Father I ask that You reveal Yourself to my sister and my brother, and that they have revelation as to the reconciliation You desire for them. I leave them in your powerful hands Father. In Jesus Name, AMEN.
