Prayer for Sarah…

Dear Christian friends of Sarah,

Let us all remember to pray for Sarah Palin this week as she approaches the
debate with Joe Biden this Thursday. She continues to take a
beating from the leftist media elites who would love to defame her good

Lord, we ask you to bless Sarah as she stands in the fiery
furnace of this election.  May she know your presence and your peace in the
midst of the lion’s den. Fill her with wisdom and insight as she prepares to
debate thisThursday. Grant her the ability to confound the wicked and the
proud with both knowledge and wit. May she be strong in You, O Lord, and the
strength of your mighty power. May your power working through her disarm all
powers and principalities opposed to Your righteousness. Lord, grant
victory to your servant for Your greater glory.

In Jesus name we pray. AMEN!

When seeking God…

We often encounter who He meant us to be…

And whether we recognize ourselves or not, we are seeing who we are in God’s eyes.

The question is…how do I get to the person God meant for me to be, the me He sees…from the muck at the bottom of this emotional well I have dug for my self, for my safety?

Back to a well loved scripture and promise…

The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
         Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Trust God to reveal what your next step will be. It is easier to walk with God when He is in the lead.

“The drawing is done by the supernatural grace… be like Jesus... be like Jesus...

…of God.” ~ Oswald Chambers

We are chosen by God…we do not choose. If we are truly disciples of God we do not have the time to be “purposing” to be a disciple, we would simply be following.

“I have chosen you” is what God says about us. Chambers states in today’s devotional that it is something “we cannot get away from, we can only disobey this, but we cannot generate it”. Meaning we cannot do anything that would cause God to choose us over another.

” The drawing is done by the supernatural grace of God, and we can never trace [back] where His work begins.”

The supernatural Grace of God…Grace, the unmerited favor, gift of God.

There, by the Grace of God, go I.

Is anyone listening? Salvation and the love of the creator is by the Grace of God! He just Loves us!

Blessings All.

“Never discard a conviction. If it is important enough for the Spirit of God to have brought it to your mind….

it is that thing He is detecting.” ~ Oswald Chambers, 1935

Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

We must deny ourselves to be a disciple of Christ Jesus.

We say we want to walk with God. To live a righteous life that is pleasing to God. Even those of us who have issues with the religion of the relationship with Christ, seek a approved life. Therefore we cannot “discard” a conviction.

As humans we have thoughts, that many of us believe are our own, what if they are not our own? As a Christian I firmly believe that these thoughts are not mine, but God speaking up within me that I need to check something. I know!

The conscience…what about that?

As a Christian I believe my conscience is the Holy Spirit, not my conscience thoughts. That feeling of “knowing” when the conscience rises up, when I was unsaved and did not know the Holy Spirit, intensified when I was brought to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Very similar it was now incredibly familiar. It must be like what a amnesiac feels when they recognize a loved one for the first time after the injury causing the loss of memory.

We must “deny ourselves”, in this verse meaning understand that this communication within our Spirit is not ourself, but a higher knowing that needs attention. Then we must shed that which has been revealed a problem.

“God is telling you of some tiny thing; but at the back of ir there lies the central citadel of obstinacy: I will not give up my right to myself – the thing God intends you to give up if ever you are going to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.” ~ Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, 1935

It is preparation we need, these devotionals. The assistance we need to shed those things that we cling to in the world.

The still small voice, not quiet for us to ignor. Rather small and quiet to require our purposed attention to God’s guidance in our walk. Are you listening?

Blessings All.

Straightaway the ideas flow in upon me, directly from God…Johannes Brahms

My sponsor and I have begun to work on a new self improvement program. I may, no! I know I have mentioned that I have felt that there is way to much focus on improving me. I mean this in light of too much focus on the self. I reason there must be a difference of somekind there, I have yet to find it though.

So its The Artist’s Way ~ A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity~ Julia Cameron

The Creative Flow is Directly from God...

The Creative Flow is Directly from God...

So far I like what I have been reading. There is a lot of God within this woman’s creation. I am impressed that she personally knows who the higher power is and gives Him the credit. That is a plus for me.

Like AA, she softens the need to recognize God in the mix for some she helps…I believe it’s a higher awareness that it will lead even the most cynical to Him eventually. So like AA there are a sort of steps…tools and self awareness.
It is the concentration on the self awareness that I have issue with, obviously. I don’t really want to be aware of myself. I think that in my private self I spend too much time there, whining. Why me? I’m sad! I’m unhappy! too much me for me!
So my sponsor is famous for saying “What God reveals He removes!” If I am revealed will I be removed! LOL!
I guess the answer would be yes…I will not be the same when He is done…until then we continue to painfully peel away the layers of mildewed onion to reach the sweet heart of the fruit. Wow! How poetic of me! LOL!
So I will give to you the list in this book of The Basic Principals: From the Artist’s Way.
1. Creativity is the natural order of life. Life is energy:pure creative energy.
2. There is an underlying, in-dwelling creative force infusing all of life-including ourselves.
3.When we open ourselves to our creativity, we open ourselves to the creator’s creativity within us and our lives.
4. We are, ourselves, creations. And we, in turn, are meant to continue creativity by being creative ourselves.
5. Creativity is God’s gift to us. Using our creativitiy is our true nature.
6. The refusal to be creative is self-will and is counter to our true nature.
7. When we open ourselves to exploring our creativity, we open ourselves to God:good orderly direction.
8. Aw we open our creative channel to the creator, many gentle but powerful changes are to be expected.
9. It is safe to open ourselves up to greater and greater creativity.
10. Our creative dreams and yearnings come from a divine source. As we move toward our dreams, we move toward our divinity.
There are somethings in that list that excite me. Particularly #7. When we open ourselves….we open ourselves to God: and good orderly direction. I am very aware from AA that they use the acronym God to lure people into a knowing of Him and His character. As I already have this knowledge I use it not as an acronym, rather as a reminder that God is a God of order…and what I receive from Him each morning is a path of good orderly direction to follow.
Well I find that it was relaxing to be here again, after days of dryness. I hope I did not bore anyone with my musings and down right whining! I’m off to work, with good orderly direction!
Blessings All.

More on temptation…

My Utmost for His Highest ~ 1935

Oswald Chambers ~

“Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” James 1:14

Main Entry:
Middle English, from Old English; akin to Old High German lust pleasure and perhaps to Latin lascivus wanton
before 12th century
1obsolete a: pleasure, delight b: personal inclination : wish
Note: I personally love when a dictionary defines a definition as obsolete as Webster’s online does above. This is ludicris! I find that the true meaning of any word, the fullness of the meaning, will be found in the obsolete…
Back to Oswald and todays devotional…
We are tempted away [from God, the things of God] by our own lust and then enticed [away].
I find that this version of the devotional points often to God putting Jesus “into the testing machine of the devil”. Oswald also points often that we, as Christians, are often put in these positions to “test” us.
Oswald states: ” By regeneration  [choosing Born Again status] we are lifted into another realm where there are other temptations to face; the kind of temptations Jesus faced.”
I believe this actually saying that after, in our free will, we choose the life of Christ we are choosing to be tested in a more intense manner. This deeply King James version and Oswald’s fullness of wording cause me to read more deeply, to find the answers.
Oswald says… “Temptation means the test by an alien power of the possessions held by a personality.” thus explaining the Temptation of Christ.
” After Jesus in His baptism had accepted the vocation of bearing away the sin of the world. He was immediately put, by God’s Spirit, into the testing machine of the devil, but He did not tire. He went through the temptation ‘without sin’, and He retained the possessions of His personality intact.”
So, we, I, having excepted God’s Spirit in a vocation of living without sin, have allowed God to put me through the testing machine. Not the testing machine of the devil…rather the testing machine of my lusts…who needs satan to test us when we can be tested by our own depravity???
So what I have been taught has been bore out by scripture!! God did not place me in the testing machine. God does not test us…we accept the tests in an attempt to live a Holy life.
When we accept the challenge, with Jesus at our side, we will retain the possessions of our personality intact. In fact we will attain possession of His personality, Intact !!!
Just another epiphany from the bottom of the well…Still Looking Up…where my help comes from!
Blessings All.

Oswald Chambers has once again tweeked my interest…

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man.” 1 Corinthians 10:13

Temptation is not sin! It is simply something man is faced with. It is how we react or act when temptation that makes a thing sin. However, temptation is never the sin. It is likely that whenever tempted, by anything, food, sex, money…the possible sin we are looking at is lust.

As humans, and particularly those of us professing ourselves as Christians, suffer temptations we have no business to suffer. Because we resist the things of God, we face temptations of  “another order”, according to Chambers.

Temptation brings to light the good and the bad of a thing, situation.  ” Temptation is a suggested short cut to the realization of the highest at which I aim…”

Did you ever notice that when you decide to go with God on something that just about immediately you are tempted… to not go…to go to far…to go your own way???

~ ” …not what I understand as evil, but towards what I understand as good.”

The temptation fits the nature of the man…and reveals all of the possibilities of that nature. The temptation reveals the man’s walk with God.

Does this mean that those of us who seek the Kingdom of God get larger temptations? I think it may…

As I strive to remove the things that are not lovely or good in my psyche, mind, body…I find that my temptations are vile and unseemly at times. I realize that I have been exposed to many things that are base in nature, especially for a woman. However, I did live in the world for about 40 years, under some very unprotected circumstances. Many of these things manifested prior to the age of 6, literally.

So now I am tempted by base temperments and natures in me. Things I desire and understand are violent and angry. It remains a battle of my mind to resist the temperments that come with these thoughts and understandings.

I fortunately, praise Jesus, that many of these things that I understand as normal  now very much offend me. I was oddly surprised recently at my aversion for profane language in everyday conversation! The revulsion was intense and I had to express my aversion carefully to not offend the person. Why? Because up until then I never expressed an issue in this area. I instantly changed the rules on the person!

Chambers says ~ “God does not save us from temptations; He succors us in the midst of them.”

Hebrews 2:18

For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Temptation: We will be assisted by Jesus when we approach temptation appropriately. Viewing it as an indicator of where we are spiritually. Jesus is equipped to assist us, because He lived as a man, tempted as we are…
