4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. 5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.
Did you ever notice, that in many of the scriptures that God uses to encourage us, there are often, too, an admonitions to be sure we are no deceived?
Like Eve, the Father warns us here not to be swayed by persuasive words. I find this one personal. He is not warning us against the disparaging things the world says to and about us, or that others say to harm and control us. He is warning against persuasive words, complements of the world and others, that lead us to a place in us that is dripping with pride.
Romans 12: 2
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
We must check these persuasive wordsagainst the Word of God. We must give all accolades to the Lord Jesus, it is His power alone that allows us to do good works.
“yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.”
The New Century version says it this way,
” my heart is with you, and I am happy to see your good lives and your strong faith in Christ.”
I have been questioning if I am living correctly, if I seek to fulfill my call correctly. Not so much questioning but feeling as if I am not living a good life in Him.
Graciously, here, this very morning He answers my self-doubt.
I thank the Father that He is faithful to finish the work He has started in me. I thank Him that His Word does not return void. This morning I will stand on these scripture verses and pray this prayer, again and continuously.
I thank You, Father, that You sent Your Word, and that The Word Has healed and delivered me from all destruction. Therefore, I cannot be destroyed.
In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
