Anger and Frustration: A Termination Plan †

God's Promise

The Rainbow is God’s promise that He will not annihilate His creation again. Some are determined to believe that God’s promise only holds the truth in that He said He would not annihilate us again with water…

I do not believe this. God has no reason to manipulate His children. He is a God of truth and love and compassion. This is proved solely by the Cross. How can one doubt the Cross?

Are we a group of doubting Thomas’?

This morning my devotionals all spoke of a Glowing. First was the morning e-mail scripture:

Revelation 21:9-10 – It shone with the glory of God

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. – Revelation 21:9-10

The next was a motivational/devotional from A New Thing Ministries, by Kim Potter, that reminded me that my Hope comes from the LORD.

In my life I have found that the root of much of my problems in life are wrapped in dark anger and frustration. Anger and Frustration are not unlike the mylar wrapping paper people use to make it difficult to unwrap a gift, as a prank. Did you ever notice that most times these pranks are used on children?

When did it become humorous to steal the joy of a gift, to a child, by causing undo frustration and anger. This reminds me of those bank commercials where the salesman cheats a kid, favoring another, with the tag line “a kid knows when things are unfair!”

Anger and frustration are like that. They bring one right back to a time when they have been cheated in a similiar fashion as the current situation. Making it difficult to do anything but commiserate with one’s past…thereby virtually removing the ability to move forward.

It is simple. One cannot move forward when enveloped in anger and frustration. Therefore I find myself, diligently, pulling at the stretchy mylar of this root in my life.

As a mature and faith filled woman of God I find it painful to find myself in these places of dessert in my heart, in my life. It makes kindness and mercy and even love very difficult to project. Who believes a declaration that begins “I love you…but…” ? What happens when we say this to God?

“Father, I love you and trust you, but…..why???…….” The Word says it makes God sad.

As Christians, all would agree that, we are a Victorious Church. We believe what the Word says to be truth, therefore we are a peaceful, happy and most elated people on the earth. So why, then, do we struggle with anger and frustration?

Speaking for myself, I believe it is an indulging. A virtual pitty party on my part. I find it happens when I am tired and weary or when I am under the weather. Oddly, this does not happen when I am in crisis. During a crisis I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the God is my only answer. That only Jesus can save my caboose from going off track. The self pitty begins after God has shown His glory to me or through me….

So how does one eliminate this from a life?

Renewal of the mind. In the book, Working with the Law, by Raymond Holliwell, he says, “The wise man changes his mind, the fool never.” There can be no progress without change, no growth without renewal.”

Biblically this relates to Psalm 1:1-2 (and others) “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But, his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.”

Basically the solution is one’s focus. Focus on these thing…things that are truth, things that are lovely…….(also biblical!) Change your mind and change your life is the mantra in today’s modern world, both biblically and secularly. However, I believe, that this time the two are having a true “meeting of the minds”.

Holliwell wrote his book in 1964. Many before have subscribed to this message before him…

* Genevieve Behrend who passed around 1960. She wrote Your Invisible Power and Attaining Your Heart’s Desire.

* Robert Collier, who passed in 1950. He wrote about and ascribed to the personal belief that success, happiness and abundance were attainable by all. He wrote The Secret of the Ages and Riches within Your Reach.

* Charles Haanel (1949) whose most famous work was The Master Key Sysem, which is a 24 week program with lessons to greatness, which was published in 1912.

So many people understood these principals, so long ago. Was it because they lived in a time where God had more presence or when families enjoyed a better understanding of God, and lived it.

So my focus to eliminate angry and frustration from my daily life is focus on God. I have begun to put my name, my person, into the scriptures I pray. One cannot go wrong praying scripture. This simple practice continually reminds God of what it was He said…He loves when we soak ourselves in His Word long enough for it to become ingrained and spoken from the heart.  Like Isaiah 43:1-2, which I inserted myself…

“…thus says the LORD, who created me (Jacob), He who formed me (Israel): Fear Not, for He redeemed me; He called me by my name (Andrea); I AM HIS. When I pass through the waters, I (God) will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow me. When I walk through the fire, I shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch me.”

~ We always have hope, because our hope comes from the LORD.

~ I remind myself, daily to hope in God, in all circumstances of this life of mine.

~ I TRUST God, alone.

~ I remind my self, with scripture, that God is always faithful.

My Goal: To worship God, at His feet, daily, thereby walking in His blessings continually.

“my God will, daily, load me with benefits.” Psalm 68:19
