Thanking God … 31 Days of Focus on God Things Day #6

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. ~ Colossians 3:17

There once was a woman whose whole being had been hurt by criticism and humiliation when she was young. And far into adulthood this lady continued to assume that all criticism was humiliation and clung to anger and resentment when these assumptions were indulged upon.

She found it hard to be grateful for certain people and situations in her life … and this caused more pain and resentment.

When she was a bit younger she was called … to/by a church, and she went, expecting the same emptiness she always felt in these sacred places … but she vowed to try one more time. She built the courage and went in … and this time God was home!

That was almost 11 years ago, and so much has occurred and changed since then, except for that criticism and resentment thing …

But today, specifically, this woman has decided to be grateful for the things/people that she is not necessarily thankful for.

Somehow it got into my spirit, I don’t remember if it’s in the bible or someone said it, that I would learn to be grateful and in turn love those and those things that I don’t have those feelings for, IF I asked God and thanked Him for them … all.

So I asked … and though I don’t feel much better about certain things I expect to. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Grateful

Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~ Ephesians 5:18b-20

Blessings.
