Looking Up, Still …

OOOOoooo! Quick update-add on! This is my 500th blog post here at HopeAnnFaith! Whooop Whooop! smile

Five Minute Friday Time! Joining Kate and the FMF Writers for today’s prompt:

Turn.

Follow the link in the graphic here to get the skinny on the FMF link-up and join us! We’d love to share this with you!

Now without any further delay … setting the timer …

GoTurn your eyes upon Jesus and the things of this world will grow strangely dim.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~ Hebrews 12:1-2

Turn away from those things that hinder and so easily entangle. Those things and people of the world who do not agree with the written will of God for our lives. What do we do when the doctor in our lives say things like: “We can never tell you you will heal” or “The chemo didn’t work, so ….”?

Or even better, professionals dealing with patients saying things like: “Oh! You’ve been doing this a year! Aren’t you one for the history books?!” What kind of backhanded encouragement (?) is that? My first thought was lady, get yourself some bedside manners before you speak to a possibly frightened patient again! Appalling in and of itself. But saddening when you think that these people don’t know God and His promises of healing for all of us.

So, yeah. I schooled them in the facts of The Hubs progress and in how BIG our God is compared to their knowledge and protocol. I was polite but firm and basically told them how they could speak about this malady in reference to our lives. The doctor just shook her head like I was a poor unfortunate imbecile; but the nurse, she knew about God, she’d obviously had some church in her life, praise God! She apologized and thanked me for giving her a different view about how her patients might be dealing with cancer in their lives. My response was thank you and not everyone owns their illnesses, some of us refuse to allow an illness or disease to take hold within us. WE here in Hutchand DO NOT take ownership of anything that did not come from God!

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. ~ James 1:17

That’s just how we roll here in Hutchland, according to what God says about this life of ours. I’m not saying we got it down pat, we don’t. But when we get it wrong, the minute we realize it, usually at Holy Spirit’s correction, we pick up, dust ourselves off , repent and get back on that path called LIFE, God has set before us.

So where do you turn when things don’t seem correct in your day to day? Where do you look when the world tells you something upside down and inside out? Do you turn to Jesus? Do you look up? Join us and let us know where you turn.

Psalm 121

A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
    he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
    he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
    both now and forevermore.

Thank you for reading. =)

Wordless Wednesday – Not So Wordless

Welcome to Wordless Wednesday!

I decided to write this post when I found the WordPress App for my brandy new iPhone.

Shallow, you say?
Maybe, I respond. But this mighty little phone has me doing more in two days then I have done in a while. Whatever breaks the apathy I say!

I am writing this joyful little post from the phone. Yes I am! Technology is cool!

I have a nutritional app now that I can track my meals, and dietary intake and journal to assist me on my Wholeness journey. Didn’t do so well today … But the good thing is I know that today. I’m no-longer blind to my intake.

There’s an app for that! 🙂

I also did this:

Mackey

Honestly … One of the big reasons I wanted an iPhone was the Instagram App. I am not disappointed. 🙂

There’s an app for that!

The huge reason I indulged myself was the 99 cents upgrade cost!

Yes! Thank you to my son (for the late birthday gift ) and to AT&T for the awesome deal!

So there you have it. My awesome technology stride in a not so wordless post.

Resolved to inquire of the LORD…

Good Morning Loves!  ♥

I am very grateful to be writing right now.

Andrea - Writer: Write down the vision and make it plain...Hab. 2:2

I had to change my perspective. In my heart I decided I wasn’t a writer!  In my head blogging was not writing…so I even got lax!

I was losing heart!

Well all my blogging friends, I’m sure you will be glad to know that Blogging is Writing! Like you all need me to tell you. However, I am grateful that all of your dedicated blogging was instrumental in getting me back to my calling!

Keeping me safe and warm in your words while I struggled to find mine.

I find it amazing how quickly thinking like the World, even in one small area, can cause a Spirit to fail.

Yes…fail.

Far too long I have failed at God‘s merciful restoration of my passion to write.

Too long I have wallowed in my perceived inadequacies. Even coming to the point of truly buying into the “I don’t have the time…”

Really! I am a semi-retired social worker who enjoys the freedom  of a very part-time gig as the Church Secretary! NO time??? REALLY!

The last several days…weeks, of devotionals and motivationals have been a reality check.

A Spiritual Reality Check!

I thank all of you, and I thank God for all of you.

First it was Habakkuk 2:2 from Kim Potter’s motivational…Write the Vision Down…

Next was Lysa TerKeurst encouraging us to study one or two words in a scripture for depth of meaning…and another place, at the same time I got Joel 2:11-13 “Even now…” and …

Revelation 2: 1-7  RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE, from where I don’t remember.

This morning I read a post from Proverbs 31 Ministries; Losing Heart by Marybeth Whalen…which spoke to a devotional note from yesterday, and I am sorry, I do not recall where this came from.

I really do glean from many devotionals and motivational blogs, all sharing and teaching God’s Word!

The note said something to this effect, ‘ my feelings indicate what I am going through in a situation and that these feelings cannot, should not, dictate my reaction.’

2 Chronicles 20:3 “Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah.” and now I remember where I got the above note!! 🙂 Lysa TerKeurst’s blog!

Thank You, Holy Spirit for bringing that to my memory. Scripture is so true! Praise God!

Lysa was taken by the fact that Jehoshphat’s name was sandwiched between his dilemma and his solution.

God presents us with a choice in our circumstance, our situations and even our trials and tribulations!

We have a choice….between our Alarm and our resolution.

Resolution: the act of answering or resolving. Something that is resolved, having firm resolve. A decision or determination.

RESOLVED TO INQUIRE OF THE LORD…

In this mornings devotional from Proverbs 31 Ministries I gleaned this gem:

“Therefore, since through God we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.” 2 Corinthians 4:1

Have you ever lost heart in something you wanted to do? A goal? A passion? Your calling in Christ?

What is on your heart to do? Have you lost heart?

Losing heart is so very easy if we look to our natural circumstances.

Really! I decided I didn’t have time in my ‘busy’ existence.

Yes! existence, I wasn’t living! I was becoming overwhelmed with my personal decisions about what was important and what I could manage to do. Everything ran together and my focus was scattered.

This happens much too often in my life these days! Therefore this day…

I am resolved to inquire of the LORD…

Only through his mercy do I have this ministry of writing.

Even though I battle feelings of inadequacy in this area I REFUSE TO LOSE HEART!

I am going to use the scriptures that spoke to me from Marybeth Whalens devotional today

, and I thank her, deeply!

Paraphrased:

…always pray and do not give up. Luke 18:1resolve to inquire of the Lord!

…remember we are being renewed daily. 2 Corinthians 4:16…renew your mind in the Lord!

…focus on the harvest to come…it will come if we do not give up! Galatians 6:9…focus on the things of the Lord!

…have comfort in your ability to approach God with freedom and confidence. Ephesians 3:12-13…where the Lord is there is Freedom!

…remember that nothing compares to what Jesus endured for us and His ministry. Hebrews 12:3…the Lord endured the Cross, sin, inadequacy, trials…so that we would not have to…His true ministry was to Save All the World.

Nothing…NOTHING compares!

In Christ we can do all things!

” I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency. ” Philippians 4:13 – Amplified.

I thank You, Father, right now for the women who are dedicated to sharing and teaching Your Word out here in the blogosphere. I thank You that You have shown mercy on me and restored my skill and passion for writing, and that You have chosen me to join the ranks of women such as these! I am excited and daunted by this task, and give all the Glory to You LORD! May I please You with my words. May I Glorify only YOUR NAME.

I resolve, LORD, to inquire of You alone when I feel my hope and my passion waning again. I will inquire of YOU. In Jesus’ name, amen.

What is it that you have been losing hope in Love?

I encourage you to resolve to inquire of the LORD…there you will find the definitive answer to your dilemma. There you will find the only true answer.

Blessings Loves ♥

A Beautiful St. Patty’s Day ~ Few Words Thurs.

“Let My Words be Few” Thursday

Here at HOPEannFaith I am challenging myself to be concise in my writing, and I invite you to join me. It is my hope to write spirit filled, inspirational posts touching our Spirits, not just our minds and flesh. I also hope this will improve my writing skill set, while deepening my spiritual walk. If you would like to join me in this challenge simply leave me a link to you ‘Let My Words be Few’ blog post or simply leave your post in the comments, and I will link your post into mine for that week. Your post can be about anything positive! The goal is to be inspirational while using the fewestwords. You can see I’m still working on that, so there is NO word count requirement. You may use the Thursday if you like, but it is not a link…I don’t know how to do that! 🙂 I’m a writer not a techie! Just manually link the picture to my blog from yours and we will be good to go, and your readers will be able to join us.

BEAUTY…

I bought One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, which just recently was added to the  Best Seller List! Congratulations Ann! I wandered onto her blog; A Holy Experience,  several months ago and was moved.  I know you will be as well.

First thing yesterday I viewed a video, which can be viewed on Ann’s blog.  I also watched an interview with Ann Voskamp which moved me (here).  These videos inspired me.

So on this beautiful spring Thursday let me just leave you with a quote from the video (on Ann’s blog)…”though the world is ugly…it IS beautiful.” These words, on a cool rainy Wednesday morning inspired this thought, that envelopes Ann’s words…

‘ If you know God, even just believe in God – then you know Beauty – you see beauty – Everywhere – in ALL things. ‘ Though this world is ugly…it IS BEAUTIFUL!’

Beauty moves me to gratitude, funny it was my first Few Words Thursday post, I cannot explain why. Beauty, true – pure beauty, makes my heart ache. My broken (physically) heart swells and aches with the overwhelming sense of a Love that cannot be contained within the human heart…therefore it must be broken to experience it…don’t ask, it’s simply a concept my head has not wrapped itself around as yet…

I simply feel gratitude today because of the gifts I received…

A beautiful St. Patrick’s Day morning

Crocus in bloom, vibrant violet and pristine white (pics soon)

The courage and energy to go out today when I didn’t want to…and then…

The opportunity to minister to a business man my husband and I just began dealing with.

Time with a new friend in counseling and fellowship.

It has truly been a BEAUTIFUL day!

Thanks for reading Loves! I welcome the company. Blessings

Let My Words be Few Thursday ~ Grateful ~

Let My Words Be Few Thursday

Welcome!

HOPEannFAITH’s very first “Let My Words be Few” Thursday!

Please join us!

Leave me a link to your “Few Words” blog post; it can be about anything you want, but short and to the point!

I will link your post into my “Few Words” posts; and we can discuss and get to know one another.

I will  get a Mr. Linksy thingy, to make joining us easier for you. I will then need to learn how to use it. 😀

“Few Words” Thursdays is my attempt at concise and profound writing…where the content touches our Spirits and not just our minds and flesh. I hope this will improve my writing skill set while deepening my spiritual walk.

As I journey to Wholeness in 2011, I walk primarily with God and likeminded people. I want to live positively in an intentional manner.

I believe this is going to heal me physically, spiritually and mentally.

My word for 2011 is Wholeness…which I may have mentioned once or twice. 🙂 I just ordered my necklace from Linda Leonard Designs. I feel this necklace is an integral part of my Wholeness experience. I don’t know why…but it feels significant.

In this journey to Wholeness I find myself GRATEFUL today. Follow the link to the Webster’s definition of grateful, which I feel is lacking~one day maybe I’ll post a rant about the desication of the English language. What I did find interesting was at the end of the definition it lead me to the definition of Grace; I’m going to research that some more…

I find gratitude to me, the concept of being grateful is a deep humbling thankfulness; one I feel primarily when I am intimate with God, alone. While there are several individuals I am truly grateful to and for, God is by far the person who brings me to humility more than anyone else. I believe that is the way it should be.

But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the LORD.’” Jonah 2:9

Even when we are thankful, feeling humbled in reference to another person or circumstance, it remains my deep belief that that occurs because God has improved us or something in us; repaired or cured something in us; that no mortal physician can. I believe that pure gratitude is divinely inspired.

There is so much I am grateful for…so in an effort to keep this already wordy post short here are but a few things on todays Gratitude list:

I am Humbly Grateful to my Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus
